Dear Little Mountain Baseball Community,

Behind the scenes, your new board has been working hard to get our baseball season up and running. As this is my last long-winded email, please read to the end to hear about important dates!!

As I pass over the torch to several people, notably Sophia Lee (Communications Coordinator), Kyle Chuang (Registrar) and Audrey White (Operational Manager), I just wanted to say thank you for all your kindness over the past year. It has been a privilege to get to know so many of you and your families. I wanted to offer a warm welcome to Audrey who will be our new Operational Manager - LMB is fortunate to have her expertise to guide our league. I also wanted to say a sincere goodbye to my friend, David St. James. It was a pleasure to get to work with someone so committed to Little League and improving the experience for both our players and families. LMB will always be grateful to David St. James’ and his contributions and leadership to guide Little Mountain Baseball to excellence.

I will be continuing on as a member of the LMB board leading our Girls in Baseball program and training new volunteers. Before we open the 2023-2024 season let’s take a quick look back at last season and recognize some special achievements. Last season was an exceptional year of growth for LMB.

2022-2023 Highlights

  • We had over 850 players play baseball this season, including our incredible Challenger athletes. That was an increase of 50 from the previous year.

  • Our players spanned over 60 teams in seven divisions.

  • We had over 200 volunteer coaches help coach your players and the most female coaches ever hitting our LMB fields.

  • Main Diamond Concession continued to bring all of us together, especially at our closing ceremonies, where we gathered as a community to eat and cheer on our athletes. David St. James and Vincenzo De Palma capped out their burger competition at 23 burgers. Well done!

  • We had the most postseason offerings, fielding 8 post-season teams. In addition to our 9/10 and 11/12 All Star teams, our 7/8 Selects, 8 Selects, 9 Selects, 10 Selects, 11 Selects, and 12 Selects Teams represented LMB in numerous tournaments across the Lower Mainland and in Everett Washington to great success!!

  • LMB’s 11/12 All Star Team won provincials and represented British Columbia at the Canadian Nationals! To read more about LMB post-season teams and see pictures, please click HERE

We also had some notable “firsts” last year:

  • We created our first ever all-girls teams, including a Division One all-girls team chosen from our Friday Night Scrimmage and Skill Series, which helped to connect and develop our female athletes.

  • We had a Gear Swap to ease the cost burden of baseball and we raised the most of all sports organizations for Athletics 4 Kids.

  • For the first time in over five years, Riley Park Concession opened thanks to our parent volunteers and Riley Park Coordinator, Erin Barnett.

Now a look forward! Congratulations and thank you Robert Mah Ming on becoming our new LMB President – here is a message from Robert.

Message from the President

Dear Little Mountain Baseball Community,

I am honoured and excited to introduce myself as the new President of the Board of Directors for Little Mountain Baseball. I joined the Board in 2019 with a goal of helping to contribute to the overall success and growth of LMB for years to come. In this new role, I am committed to leading us through continued growth and evolution toward an even brighter future.

I have been part of the LMB family since my oldest son started Blastball in 2016 and over the past 8 years I have coached 15 different teams including 4 post season teams. I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the positive impact our association can have on the lives of our young athletes and our community.

You will notice some considerable changes coming this year including a new Operations Manager, new Board members, new volunteer roles and continued commitment to improvements.

Registration will open on November 27th for the 2024 season so keep a look out for an invitation to register.

We are a volunteer run organization and depend on all of you for your time and commitment to make everything work. I am eager to listen to your ideas, collaborate with you, and lead us on a path of continued success. If you have any thoughts, questions, or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to me. Your input is invaluable, and your involvement is essential as we continue this journey.

I am looking forward to working closely with our dedicated Board of Directors, volunteers, coaches, parents, and, most importantly, the young athletes who are the heart and soul of our organization. Together, we will continue to foster an inclusive, nurturing, and inspiring environment where our kids can learn, play, and grow through the magic of Little League.

I’d like to thank David St. James for his leadership and direction over the past 3 years as President. We managed through some challenging times and have come out the other side with growth and successes across all levels of LMB. I’d also like to thank Kristine Hagen for going above and beyond by taking on the Registrar role last year and wearing too many hats to list out!

Let's look forward to a promising and rewarding chapter in the history of Little Mountain Baseball.

Sincerely,

Robert Mah Ming

President, Board of Directors, Little Mountain Baseball

Registration and Call for Volunteers

Registration and Call for Volunteers

Registration is now opened. As part of the registration process, you will be asked to identify how you will volunteer this year. Every success this past season rested upon the efforts of volunteers. With the considerable growth in players last year and the resulting increased effort to offer a meaningful baseball experience for everyone, we did not have enough people raise their hands to volunteer and the efforts fell on the shoulders of a handful of people – to whom we are so grateful. This year we will need to share the load and are looking at ways for more families to volunteer based on their interests and availability. In the meantime, please take at look at our volunteer opportunities  HERE
